AutoOne in the Community
At AutoOne, community involvement plays a very important role. That's why we've instituted the Positive Work Environment (PWE). Not only do we work hard for our customers, but we also work hard for our community. We do this because we feel that it is a company's responsibility to give back to the communities where we live and work. The PWE is comprised of employees that volunteer to select and coordinate our company-sponsored, fund-raising events that positively impact the quality of life in the communities in which we live and work. Each quarter is devoted to a different charity in both Melville, New York and in Syracuse, New York. The PWE committee also coordinates unique, enjoyable events for our employees.

AutoOne has contributed thousands of dollars each year to charities through employee-supported functions. These contributions touch lives through education, culture, the arts, health and human services. But this only begins to tell the story of each employee's charitable contribution, personal achievement and willingness to donate their time.

Walk-a-thons, raffles, bake sales, and the recycling of cell phone and ink cartridges are just some of the ways that AutoOne has raised money for the charities listed below:

Breast Cancer Awareness
During the past few years, AutoOne employees have participated in walk-a-thons such as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. All monies raised go towards funding research to find the cause and a cure. Recently, we took our fundraising efforts to a whole new level by introducing an event called “Pink Day” to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. Employees united together, forming a sea of pink, to show their dedication.

Golisano Children's Hospital
Golisano Children's Hospital is the only hospital of its kind in the Upstate NY region. This hospital treats children with terminal, non-terminal, and catastrophic diseases where comprehensive medical care is detrimental to the child's health.  All monies raised are used towards a resource room where the children can go for activities, books and games. A Farmer's Market was organized, bringing in not only a great deal of donations, but a ton of delicious food as well.

Head Start | Adopt A Family | Toys For Tots
The Head Start program is the longest-running, national school-readiness program in the United States that provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families. AutoOne provides time off (with pay) to those employees who wish to volunteer during the school year to assist in the classrooms. It is a great opportunity to spend time with the children through playful interactions, reading, art-making and assisting the staff with their everyday needs.

During the holidays, AutoOne reaches out to those less fortunate in a variety of ways; collecting toys, supplies and donations. The AutoOne team has made a difference in the lives of many children and families by providing for them in a special way. Through the Head Start program, AutoOne takes part in the Adopt-A-Family program and adopts multiple families for the holidays. We give both the children and parents an array of brand new, decoratively wrapped gifts to open during the holiday season. All of the gifts are purchased with the monies that were raised. Toys, sporting equipment, clothing (such as everyday wear, warm coats, gloves and pajamas), household items, appliances and bedding are just some of the ways AutoOne uses the money that is raised to enrich the lives of numerous families. Each family also receives large baskets full of toiletries, books, various art materials and gift certificates to local supermarkets.

AutoOne also participates in the Toys For Tots program. The mission of this U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during November and December. The donated toys are distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

Make-A-Wish
AutoOne has been involved with Make-A-Wish for the past few years. Each year, we have helped fulfill the wishes of a special child with our fundraising events. Most recently, with the funds that were raised, we were able to send a 7-year-old boy from Long Island who has Cystic Fibrosis to Disney World for his dream vacation. Amongst the various means of fundraising that were used, AutoOne employees participated in a special event called the “Little Stars Gallery.” Employees were encouraged to bring in artwork that was created by children. All submissions had to reflect either the Make-A-Wish charity or the child's special wish. All proceeds from the event were donated to the charity along with the fantastic artwork that was created.

Support Our Troops
In conjunction with a “Go Green” theme, AutoOne implemented a recycling program called Cell Phones for Soldiers. This program allowed our employees to donate their used cell phones and cell phone accessories to help support our troops overseas. All funds received through the recycling of the donated items were used to provide the soldiers with calling cards, enabling them to have one hour of talk time to connect with loved ones back home. Additional charitable donations that were raised went to the USO .
